Genlight raised C and D rounds for an epilepsy neurostimulator

Genlight Medical, based in Hangzhou, disclosed two funding rounds on 8 September 2026. The Series C was led by Qiming Venture Partners; the Series D drew Saizhi Bole, Kuanqiao Hengsong and Ningbo state capital among others. The company put the combined total at several hundred million yuan and did not give an exact figure.
Two devices are named. Epilcure is an implantable neurostimulation system for drug-resistant focal epilepsy, which the company says it is moving toward registration and commercialisation. Vivastep is a spinal-cord interface at the clinical translation stage, with regulatory filings and clinical collaborations planned outside China.
Drug-resistant focal epilepsy is the clearest case for putting electronics in a skull: about a third of people with epilepsy do not respond adequately to medication, and for them a device that detects and interrupts a seizure is the remaining option. That is also why the category is where implantable neurostimulation reaches patients first, and why a spinal interface tends to follow it out of the same company — the hard parts, the electrodes, the sealed can, the closed-loop detection, are shared.
Neither device is approved. The round funds the attempt.
