Gestala said on 26 August 2026 that it has raised 570 million yuan, about $84 million, since launching on 1 January. The total covers two rounds: 150 million yuan in an angel round in March and 420 million yuan in an Angel+ round in July. Named investors include HSG, Lens Technology, Sinovation Ventures and C Capital. The company was co-founded by Phoenix Peng and Tianqiao Chen, who founded Shanda Group.
The announcement is an aggregation rather than a new close: both rounds had already happened, and what is new is the disclosure of the running total.
Gestala is building a brain-computer interface based on ultrasound rather than implanted electrodes. Functional ultrasound imaging reads brain activity indirectly, through changes in cerebral blood flow, while focused ultrasound modulates specific circuits, which is what the company means by whole-brain read and write. Chronic pain is the first target, with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and stroke rehabilitation named as later candidates.
A first-generation product and a brain foundation model are promised by the end of 2026. No clinical data has been published. Gestala is the second Chinese ultrasound BCI company to raise money in August, after Sisheng Technology’s seed-plus round on 18 August.
