IASO Biotechnology, a cell-therapy company with operations in Nanjing and Shanghai, completed its acquisition of MediSix Therapeutics on 13 August 2026. MediSix is based in Singapore and was founded in 2016 by Dario Campana, described in the announcement as a CAR-T pioneer. The deal value was not disclosed.
What IASO acquires is a specific engineering trick. MediSix’s PEBL platform — Protein Expression Blocker — blocks chosen proteins from appearing on a cell’s surface, which according to the announcement reduces fratricide among CAR-T cells: engineered T cells aimed at a target their own kind also carries end up killing each other. The lead programme, IASO107, formerly PCART7, is in clinical evaluation; the company reports early efficacy and safety signals without publishing them.
The direction of the transaction is the part worth noting. A Chinese cell-therapy company is buying a Singaporean platform founded by a Western academic, rather than licensing its own assets outward.
