Loyal announced on 16 September 2026 that the US FDA accepted the Reasonable Expectation of Effectiveness section for LOY-003, a daily pill intended to extend the lifespan of large and giant-breed dogs. The section is the efficacy requirement of the agency’s Expanded Conditional Approval pathway for veterinary drugs.

With that acceptance, all three drugs in Loyal’s portfolio have satisfied the efficacy requirement, which the company says makes it the first to reach that point across an entire lifespan-extension pipeline. LOY-001 and LOY-003 both target growth hormone and IGF-1 signalling in large dogs, whose size shortens their lives. LOY-002, aimed at insulin resistance in senior dogs of any size, has also completed the FDA’s target animal safety section and is in its pivotal field study, called STAY.

Conditional approval still requires the remaining sections, including safety and manufacturing, for each drug. Loyal has raised more than $250 million to date. None of its drugs is for humans; the indication the FDA is evaluating in each case is lifespan extension itself.
