Meta announced Hearing Enhancement at Meta Connect on 23 September 2026, an FDA-cleared software feature that lets supported Meta AI glasses work as a hearing aid. It is intended for adults 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.

The feature costs $149.99 as a one-time purchase, eligible for HSA and FSA spending, or comes with a Meta One subscription. Meta says it can be set up at home in minutes, with no clinic visit or prescription. According to Engadget, the FDA cleared it as over-the-counter hearing aid software, it starts by voice command, it works alongside the glasses’ existing Conversation Focus mode, and it will not be offered on the Ray-Ban models at first. Meta says it launches in the United States later this year.

The same announcement added audio balance and mono audio settings for every wearer of its AI glasses, and Engadget reports improvements to its Detailed Responses feature for blind and low-vision users.
