ULS Robotics, a Chinese exoskeleton maker, released the Viatrix X on 22 September 2026, a walking-assist exoskeleton weighing 2.58 kilograms and designed for outdoor use, according to China Daily. The report gives no price.

The launch lands in a consumer market that has formed around tourism. China Daily reports that exoskeletons can now be rented at the Badaling section of the Great Wall in Beijing, Mount Tai in Shandong, Mount Hua in Shaanxi, Changbai Mountain in Jilin and Wulong district in Chongqing, for 80 to 200 yuan per rental; at Changbai Mountain the fee is 88 yuan, about $13.

The same report names Hypershell, founded in 2021, as among the first companies to reach mass production of consumer exoskeletons with its X series in 2024, and notes that the outdoor apparel brand Toread has supplied devices for testing at running-club events. The article does not give sales or user figures.

Powered leg assistance, until recently a rehabilitation device, is being sold and rented in China as a way for ordinary visitors to climb farther than they otherwise could.
