WeChat Pay opens QR-code payments to smart glasses

WeChat Pay packaged its scan-to-pay function into a standard software development kit and opened it to smart-glasses makers on 8 September 2026. Rokid’s Leqi AI glasses were the first product to complete adaptation.
The payment runs in three steps: the wearer starts a scan by voice, looks at a merchant’s QR code, and slides the temple arm of the glasses to confirm. Before the first payment, the wearer applies through the glasses maker’s phone app and then verifies a payment password in a WeChat mini-program, which binds the glasses to the WeChat account. The glasses must stay connected to WeChat on a paired phone.
Amounts are capped. The base version allows RMB 200 per day; glasses that can identify their wearer biometrically, by iris or fingerprint, are allowed a higher limit. Supported payments are face-to-face QR codes of the kind used at convenience stores, markets and street stalls. The SDK is in beta, and WeChat Pay says it will open to more glasses that have display capability.
The announcement was reported by IT Home and Jiemian News and attributed to WeChat Pay; no separate Tencent newsroom release for it could be located.
