XPeng said on 7 September 2026 that it had commissioned humanoid robot production lines at its Guangzhou facility and built the first unit of its IRON robot on them. The company describes the lines as the first automated production lines for advanced humanoid robots, with core process automation exceeding 80 per cent, and says the first IRON walked off the line rather than being carried.

The robot carries 76 degrees of freedom across the body and 21 in each hand, and runs three of XPeng’s in-house Turing AI chips for up to 2,250 TOPS of what the company calls effective computing power.

XPeng put no unit numbers on the announcement. It says robots are scheduled to enter mass production by the end of 2026, with the first commercial deployments inside its own stores and campuses, and an official market launch and deliveries in China and overseas planned for 2027.

The announcement is about manufacturing rather than capability: XPeng reported no new task performance for IRON, and described the line as combining automotive-grade quality systems from its electric vehicle business with precision robot assembly.
